About Kay Stringham
Athens Young Musicians Studio (AYMS) was founded in 1984 by Kay Stringham, known by her students as "Ms. Kay," as a way to teach Athens and surrounding area students how to learn to love music. Ms. Kay's goal is for each student that comes through her program to have a deeper love for music and the ability it has to transform an individual.
Ms. Kay has taught keyboard and musicianship classes for more than 40 years. After teaching in the Research and Development Center for Yamaha Music Education System in Southern California, she traveled for Yamaha as an education specialist and teacher trainer. In 1984, Ms. Kay moved to Athens and began teaching piano in the area.
For many years she has lived and taught here in Athens, introducing the joys of music-making to hundreds of area children. Ms. Kay is passionate about serving the Athens community and hosting events with friends and family in her East Athens home.
